Fancy Food is our largest show of the year and is truly the big kahuna of Food Shows in the USA. We threw a great party with Sambazon and also had amazing visitors. Our friend Virginia brought her son to riot and Ari from Zingerman's stopped by to talk about customer service with the team.
We also saw Dominque and Xavier from Daniel, Julius from Greystone Bakery, The Ladies from Magnolia Bakery, Duff from Zingerman's, Scott from Zabar's, Scott from Di Bruno, Bugi, Annie, and Annie's friend, Sujay. Keegan, our old friend from the Food Network, was also there. Next time you'll have to come riot with us! It's non stop action at Fancy Food.
Have you heard the latest? sweetriot was on the Today Show! Here we are with the great producer himself who loved the sweetriot story and our talented friends Stella and Sonia from Ladies Who Launch. Click here and you can see the full video. Thanks to Ladies Who Launch (LWL) for sourcing the story - LWL is a great organization for female entrepreneurs.
I haven't spent a lot of time in South Carolina but when my friend and advisor, Peter, a New Orleans native told me about his annual crawfish boil, I couldn't resist.
Luckily all weekend the weather was beautiful, and I spent some time with the lovely Chef Akasha and Alan exploring the delicious local bakery, Kudzo, which has been covered by the Food Network. We also stopped by Perrone's for some wine and snacks.
If you have a chance to visit some May, the Carolina Coast is stunning. It was the perfect time of year for being outside with new and old friends.
My friend Carolyn and I always seem to stumble upon interesting new things in NYC. We went to the pre opening of Landmarc in the Time Warner Center and met Marc Murphy, the Chef, along the way too. The restaurant group now has 3 great places - Landmarc in Tribeca, Ditch Plains and their new place on Columbus Circle. What's consistent among their restaurants is delicious wine, modern atmosphere, and fresh and simply entrees.
Once a year the GEL conference comes to life. GEL brings together artists, designers, marketers, and many more to think about what good experience means today. One of my favorite speakers was my friend, Danny Meyers, who runs the Union Square Hospitality Group and has a great new book called Setting the Table. Ira Glass from NPR is also a fantastic speaker. sweetriot was lucky to once again run our cacao experience with GEL attendees. More on that next....
GenArt is an organization in NYC, with which the sweetriot team loves to do events. They have a great vision and always pull together interesting people and ideas. Their annual GenArt FilmFest never disappoints and my friend, Jeff Abramson, flawlessly directs the entire fest. This year, Christian Slater, also came out to promote his new film, He was a Quiet Man - he gives a brilliant performance.
sweetriot recently went to the Green Festival in Chicago! Imagine over 20,000 attendees who care about the environment and world and over 100 companies there too from food, media, energy, and more. There are more coming up in DC and San Francisco in the Fall. We loved rioting there! Thanks to Andrew, Grace, Matt, Ellen, Naomi, Travis, and everyone for coming out!
My friend, Helena, put on a great show this past weekend. She is inspired by grafitti found in NYC and has set up a beautiful collection of photos. Check her out through March 17 at Miwa Alex. Helena is a total rioter!
