I like to speak about friends of mine from time to time -- partly because sweetriot is a journey and that journey is never ventured alone. Well, and maybe because it's Friday afternoon too. :)
This week the special ones are Carolyn, Joe, and Nathan. Carolyn has been involved in sweetriot since its inception and has always had caring and insightful advice. She is excited about the vision behind the company and supports us to make it stronger. Luckily, Carolyn moved cross-country from San Francisco to NYC to be even closer to the riot - well, I suppose, we weren't the only reason but we like to think so. :) She also just celebrated a birthday!
Joe is one of my multi-talented college friends -- a musician, an architect, a party planner, a Napoleon Dynamite cameo artist. Yes, that's Joe. Joe has also been involved in sweetriot since early on and luckily doesn't think my cacao pipe dreams are completely nuts. I feel grateful for college friends like this. Pictured above you'll find Joe dancing the night away with his lovely girlfriend, Agnes, at one of his latest gigs. :)
Nathan is one of my old colleagues at Yahoo! and has heard me speak about this 'dream' for a long time. I'm excited to see him pursue a dream of his own as he is jumping ship from running the WSJ Online to running the International Rescue Committee in Liberia (a cacao country - yay!). Now that is an example of letting go of everything at home to take on greater challenges abroad. Since he was a Peace Corps volunteer in Senegal years ago, he has always wanted to give back in a greater way. Now I finally understand his fascination with cacao too...he has and will continue to live in cacao countries. :)
