Mike Hammer is a very special guy. I met him about 2 years ago in NYC when he held a gallery showing. Tatiana Glad, an old friend of his (and mine) from Toronto, lived abroad and sent me along in her place. I knew right away that his artwork was special. He was young (my age), vibrant, and integrated movement and music into his pieces. His artwork stuck in my head but I never realized it would affect sweetriot in the future.
As we developed the packaging for sweetriot, we started to design graphic pieces on the side but somewhere along the way the idea of 'real art' came to mind. We realized this was also a way to promote artists and their work in a unique way. I mentioned this idea to Mike's old friend, and she put us in touch. Mike, with a leap of faith, believed in us and our idea. He openly offered his artwork for the concept and mission of sweetriot. I am forever grateful to Mike and so excited to see his art on our tins. You have to see his amazing work - http://www.sweetriot.com/about/artist.php
We are also excited to announce a call for our next featured artist - please click here for more info and forward to your friends - the first deadline is October 12. If you miss it, we'll continue to call for new artwork to refresh our tins, so they always celebrate culture and diversity through art! http://www.sweetriot.com/art/artists-join-the-riot.php
Thank you again to Mike Hammer for his art and to Tatiana Glad for bringing us together!
